Rio Tinto engaged BEC to deliver its conveyor laser scanning systems to measure volumetric ore flow from iron ore train unloaders. BEC’s system provided critical information to Rio Tinto as to its bulk conveyors’ flow rates, belt drift monitoring, ore profile reporting, and available belt capacity. Such metrics are pivotal in ascertaining real productivity, output gains and enhancing material handling operations. BEC’s system surpasses traditional belt weigher systems given its independence of ore density or moisture content, and greater utilisation of belt capacity.
