BEC SCOPE:
FMG operates its own ore car maintenance workshop which services it fleet of some 3500 iron ore wagon and locomotives. BEC was awarded the contract to design, install and commission an advanced RFID based tracking system to enable FMG to monitor, track and report on the ore car wheel sets across its entire ore car fleet.
BEC completed the electrical design, PLC and database programming, panel fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the system to integrate into the existing Siemens based manufacturing system.
OUTCOME:
Utilising a combination of off the shelf Pepperl & Fuchs RFID readers and tags, BEC was able to employ existing RFID technology into the FMG operation, enabling key data and to be tracked and analysed to determine key business and operational metrics.
